New waste separation in Falkenstein: Collect large films and mixed plastics now!

In Falkenstein there has been a new waste separation regulation since October 1, 2024, which focuses on the collection of large films and mixed plastics. This initiative aims to increase recycling rates and raise citizens' awareness of the responsible use of plastics. The municipality of Michelsneukirchen has thus taken a further step towards more environmentally friendly waste management.

Citizens are now asked to hand in their large films and mixed plastics in special containers at the recycling center. If you would like to find out more about the exact acceptance conditions, you can visit the Kreiswerke Cham website. There you will find all the information you need to ensure that waste is disposed of correctly.

What are large films and mixed plastics?

Large films are materials that are larger than DIN A4. This includes packaging films such as shrink and stretch films, which are often used for furniture, construction materials and electrical appliances. Foil bags that are used for fertilizer or animal feed, for example, also fall into this category. However, foil that does not serve as sales packaging, such as tablecloths or gift wrap, will not be accepted.

The mixed plastics category includes smaller films and special bags, such as the well-known Raschel bags, which are often used for onions or potatoes. This separation is part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at modernizing waste management in the region and conserving resources.

In addition to this new collection, there are also important changes that citizens should be aware of. From December 31, 2024, the collection of used tires and bottle corks at recycling centers will stop. After this date, old tires can no longer be returned there, but it is possible to return them when purchasing new tires from a tire store. This ensures that environmentally friendly disposal is still guaranteed.

From January 2024, plastic bottle corks will be assigned to the mixed plastics category. This means that in the future they will have to be disposed of in the appropriate containers. Natural cork waste, such as cork coasters or pinboards, should be disposed of as normal waste.
