Commemoration of Kristallnacht: Barn Synagogue in Bechhofen
The Bechhofen barn synagogue is an important testimony to Jewish culture in Franconia. It was built in the 17th century and is one of the most valuable Jewish monuments in Bavaria. A stone sculpture now commemorates this historic building. On the occasion of the commemoration of the horrors of Kristallnacht on November 9, 1938, the importance of the synagogue is highlighted.
Radio feature about the Barn Synagogue
Today a ten-minute radio feature about the Barn Synagogue will be broadcast on Deutschlandfunk Kultur. The show features the Bechhofer siblings from New York, mayorSven Waidmannand home care workerClaudia Dommellisten. The recording addresses the history and cultural significance of the synagogue.
