Sulzbach-Rosenberg Youth Advisory Board: New approaches for young voices!
On November 29, 2025, the election of the youth advisory board of the city of Sulzbach-Rosenberg took place in the “Hammock” youth club. From 5 p.m., young people were able to cast their votes to elect their representatives to the interest group. The new term of office of the Youth Advisory Board began on December 1, 2025 and will last until November 30, 2027. The city administration and the city council had spoken out across party groups in favor of reinstalling a youth advisory board in order to promote public engagement among young people.
The newly elected members are:
- Vincent Baier
- Charlotte Weiß
- Timo Stadlbauer
- Felix Stadlbauer-Vincent
- Nico Haubelt
The main goal of the youth advisory board is to bring young people's concerns, suggestions and criticism into the local political discussion. The advisory board will participate in all matters affecting youth and represent the interests of young people to the city council and the city administration.
Commitment and tasks
The youth advisory board also has the task of planning and implementing its own projects and events. In order to reach as many young people as possible, schools and clubs were invited to pass on information about the election and the tasks of the advisory board. Jessica Graf, the youth representative, is available to answer any questions on 09661/510-2101 or by email at Jessica.Graf@sulzbach-rosenberg.de. Further information, guidelines and proposal forms are available on the city's website.
The importance of youth participation is not only local, but is also becoming increasingly clear in national contexts. In Baden-Württemberg, children and young people have had a say in decisions that affect them since 2015. According to the study “Municipal child and youth participation in Baden-Württemberg 2023”, the number of municipalities with corresponding offers increased from 53% in 2018 to 68% in 2024. This commitment is expressed in various forms, be it through youth community councils, youth conferences or project-related formats that offer young people a space for their opinions and ideas.
The election of the youth advisory board in Sulzbach-Rosenberg is therefore part of a trend across society that recognizes the importance of the voice of young people and offers them the opportunity to actively participate in shaping their environment. [suro.city] reports that the election is of great importance for local youth and represents a growing awareness of the needs and concerns of young people. This development will certainly continue to shape the political landscape in the region in the future.
