Marianne Moosburger inspires with new tavern stories from Hahnbach!
On December 2nd, 2025, Marianne Moosburger will publish her new book entitled “Im Wirtshaus daham – Wirtshaus Stories”. This work addresses the tradition and culture of Hahnbach's inns and offers a deep insight into the memories and stories that surround these social and cultural core points of the community. Moosburger, who is 70 years old and comes from the traditional Gasthof Ritter in Hahnbach, has not only documented the inn stories, but also enriched them with a lot of personal experience and numerous anecdotes.
Already in her youth, Moosburger was actively involved in the events in the inn. After studying, getting married and spending a few years abroad, she returned to Hahnbach with her family in 1985. Her passion for the community's history is evident in the numerous research and publications she has published over the years. That's what she noticed too [Hahnbach](https://www.hahnbach.de/aktuelles/detail?tx_news_pi1%5Baction%5D=detail&tx_news_ pi1%5Bcontroller%5D=News&tx_news_pi1%5Bnews%5D=4173&cHash=f951e9c620fd7397c6d99a9ef3d32a01), that she was appointed home caretaker on April 1, 2019, giving her an official role in preserving local culture.
Comprehensive documentation of the tavern culture
In her new book she has collected old and new stories about a total of 49 inns from 23 different locations. Moosburger managed to put together humorous anecdotes as well as lesser-known information about inn life. The contents of the book not only cover the historical aspects of brewing and tavern life in Hahnbach, but also topics such as beer testers, tavern regulations, fights and the creation of beer cellars in the region. This wealth of knowledge reflects the rich history and cultural significance of the tavern culture in Hahnbach, which is excellently expressed through the diverse information in the work.
Mayor Bernhard Lindner, who personally received the first copy of the 240-page book, plans to give it away as gifts. Those who live in the market town of Hahnbach or would like to deepen their connection to this region will certainly also be interested in the book. The book is now available for €19.90 and can be purchased in various restaurants in the community as well as in the town hall and directly from Moosburger.
The book also sheds light on the role of inns as meeting places and as important cultural institutions. Marianne Moosburger's stories help to raise awareness of these traditions and prevent the loss of valuable memories of tavern culture. Her in-depth research and the extensive archive she has created over the course of her professional career make the book essential reading for anyone interested.
The Morawa mentions that Moosburger herself contributed stories from her own childhood and her time at the Gasthof Ritter in Hahnbach. These personal memories, along with the collected stories from the community, give the book an authentic and unique character that immerses readers in the past and the traditions associated with it.
Additional information and details about the inn stories can also be found in a comprehensive PDF documentation, which can be accessed here: Contents of the e-book. The documentary offers an in-depth perspective on the region's outstanding pub culture and complements Moosburger's views on this topic.
