State road 2040: Closure between Engelsdorf and Buchenöd from September 2nd

From September 2, 2024, state road 2040 between Engelsdorf and Buchenöd will be closed to all traffic. This measure is part of a comprehensive road renewal project covering a section of approximately 5.4 kilometers. The work includes not only the renewal of the road surface, but also the strengthening of the road structure and improvements to the cross slope to increase the safety of the road.

The closure affects the section between Engelsdorf and the junction of the AS29 district road near Buchenöd, west of Etsdorf. An alternative route will be put in place to reroute traffic. Road users coming from Amberg are asked to take the AM30 district road and the state road 2399 to Lintach. From there it continues to the west of Freudenberg and then via the AS29 district road back to the St2040. This diversion also applies to traffic traveling in the opposite direction.

Important information for road users

The Amberg-Sulzbach State Building Authority asks all road users to avoid the closed area if possible. It is recommended to allow sufficient time for the journey as delays are to be expected. The authority notes that construction work is expected to take approximately 10 weeks, depending on weather conditions.

In order to ensure the safety of construction workers and to enable the work to proceed smoothly, it is important that all road users observe the diversion regulations and the corresponding signage. The building authority would like to thank residents and road users in advance for their understanding of the inevitable restrictions and traffic disruptions that may occur during the construction period.

The total costs for renewing the roadway amount to around 2 million euros. This investment is intended not only to improve road quality, but also to increase safety for all road users.
