Repair Café in Freihung: Repair and appreciate together!

In today's throwaway society, many things end up in the trash far too quickly. Often these are items that only have small defects and would be fully functional again after a simple repair. To counteract this trend, the market town of Freihung is organizing a repair café in collaboration with the Center for Renewable Energy and Sustainability (ZEN).

The Repair Café will take place on Friday, September 27, 2024, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the KUBE cultural and meeting place, Marktstraße 36, 92271 Freihung. Here, citizens have the opportunity to have their defective devices and items inspected and repaired by experienced repairers. The specialists work in the areas of electrical engineering, consumer electronics and bicycle repair. A seamstress is also available to make minor changes to clothing, but not complex work such as changing zippers.

Repairs made easy

To ensure a smooth process, an appointment must be made in advance. This can be done up to 12 p.m. on the Thursday before the appointment by calling 0 96 24 – 90 36 48. The repairs themselves are free, but voluntary donations are welcome to support the event. The Repair Café not only offers the opportunity to repair broken items, but also promotes a new awareness of the value of things and shows that repairing can be fun.

In addition, the market town of Freihung is looking for committed citizens who would like to support the Repair Café as volunteers. We are looking for helpers for organization, cake bakers and repairers, especially for electrical devices. Anyone who would like to share their knowledge and skills is welcome to become part of this initiative.
