Mering celebrates: artwork by Katharina Peter in the Aichach Advent calendar!
The Aichach Christmas market, which ran until December 29th, once again attracted numerous visitors this year. The focus is particularly on the Advent calendar, which can be found on the facade of the historic town hall. This calendar includes 24 windows, the content of which comes from the various district communities. Mering had the honor of designing the door for December 24th.
The Meringer artist Katharina Peter was responsible for the artistic design of the Christmas window. Despite her creative work, neither she nor the mayor Florian A. Mayer were able to be personally present when the doors opened. Nevertheless, after the holidays they didn't miss the opportunity to visit and admire the pictures from both Mering and the other communities.
Art and challenge
Designing the window was a particular challenge for Katharina Peter. Her goal was to make the picture harmonious beyond the frame. This artistic task required both skill and creativity. Unfortunately, the image in the newspaper was not printed optimally, which led to incorrect spacing and positioning of the panes. In the original image, however, everything appears perfect and represents Mering excellently.
Gratitude for Katharina Peters' work and her creative contribution was expressed not only by the citizens, but also by Mayor Mayer. To properly celebrate the day, the artist and the mayor treated themselves to a hot spritz, which rounded off the celebration.
Overall, Mering's participation in the Aichach Advent calendar not only shows the artistic diversity of the region, but also strengthens the community of the district communities through such traditional actions.
