Carnival parade on February 15th: road users beware!
Major traffic disruptions are expected in Mering on February 9, 2026. This is in connection with an upcoming carnival parade planned for Sunday, February 15, 2026. Various streets in the city will be closed from 12 p.m. to ensure the safety of participants.
The complete closure affects Augsburger Straße. This section extends from the junction of the roundabout to Münchener Straße (near Unterberger Straße). In addition, Bahnhofstrasse, from the junction with Münchener Straße to the junction with Luitpoldstraße, will be temporarily closed in order to create enough space for the towing vehicles to be parked.
Closures and diversions
Herzog-Wilhelm-Straße will also be affected, up to and including Kirchplatz. The closures will remain in effect until approximately 7 p.m. A major traffic diversion will be in place, leading south via Boutteville, Friedenau, Tunnel, Kanal, Tratteil and Unterberger Streets. A diversion is also offered in the opposite direction.
In addition to the closed area already mentioned, the roundabout on Augsburger Straße / Hörmannsberger Straße will be closed from around 2 p.m. until after the end of the carnival parade, which is expected to end around 3:30 p.m. - 4 p.m. The dismantling of the closures should begin at 6 p.m. at the earliest, depending on the cleaning of the parade route.
Information for residents
Access to the Knittelhof car park will remain closed during the event. Residents and motorists are advised to use parking spaces outside the closed sections, particularly if a vehicle is required. There will be a ban on stopping in the closed event area and on the diversion routes.
Jägerbergstrasse and Bouttevillestrasse will be used for a “small diversion” during the dismantling work. This is valid until Monday, February 16, 2026, 8 a.m. Herzog-Wilhelm-Straße will be reopened from Kirchstraße to the junction with Kirchplatz.
