Mayor Mayer helps Mering Tennis Club with 1,000 euros after flooding!
The Mering Tennis Club was recently supported by the Mering Foundation to repair the consequences of flood damage. Mayor Florian A. Mayer, who is also chairman of the board of trustees, visited the association to find out about the current renovation work. The flood event in 2024 resulted in significant water damage, particularly affecting the club's basement. Maximilian Ludwig and Johannes Spengler, the two chairmen of the tennis club, as well as treasurer Jürgen Seitz reported on the effects and the renovation measures that have already been carried out.
The work includes the renovation of the shower rooms, toilets and stairs. Although the tennis club has financed many of these measures from its own resources in recent years, comprehensive support for the renovation of the outdoor facilities is urgently needed. At a meeting of the main committee, the club's situation was discussed and it was unanimously decided to grant the Mering Tennis Club a maximum grant of 20,000 euros. In addition, development costs of 1,500 euros per year will be waived for the years 2025 to 2031. These reliefs are intended to support the club in a difficult phase.
Financial support for renovation work
During the visit, Mayor Mayer presented a symbolic check for 1,000 euros from funds from the Mering Foundation, which is specifically intended to combat flood damage. The money is to be invested in maintaining the club's property, from which the community will benefit economically in the long term. Mayer pointed out that such tasks cost a lot of money and that the Mering Tennis Club does not benefit much from general club funding. This grant is therefore particularly valuable for the future development of the club.
There are also opportunities for further financial support through donations or endowments to the Mering Foundation in order to promote charitable projects in the region.
The search for funding
However, applying for funding requires a well-thought-out strategy. Estimates show that 90 percent of applications to foundations are rejected, often due to inadequacies in project planning or a lack of persuasiveness of the request. It is important to have a clear identity and purpose and to understand how foundations work. In order to be successful, applicants should specifically search for suitable foundations and create convincing funding applications.
Through strategic action and a targeted approach, projects such as the renovation of the Mering tennis club can be successfully supported, which can sustainably strengthen the sports and club landscape in the region.
