Friedberg calls for the care of hedges and trees: safety comes first!

The city of Friedberg provides information about the pruning of hedges, bushes and trees in the city area. Overhanging vegetation can cause problems. Pedestrians and cyclists often have to move onto the street. Garbage trucks and winter service are also affected. In emergency operations this can even be life-threatening. Fire brigade and rescue workers report delays in arrival.

Call for participation

The city calls on all citizens to do their duty. This obligation is regulated in Article 29 Paragraph 2 of the Bavarian Roads and Highways Act (BayStrWG). Properties should be inspected and vegetation cut back to the property line. In the case of extensive pruning, this should be done between October and February in order to take into account the breeding and bird protection season. It is important that a clearance profile of 2.5 meters is maintained on footpaths and cycle paths and 4.5 meters high on roads.

City review

From spring 2025, the city will review the situation on site. If necessary, property owners will be contacted and asked to cut back. Failure to do so can be remedied by the city carrying out replacement work for a fee.
